Tetrazines in Reactive groups
Tetrazines (1,2,4,5-tetrazine) are a six-membered cyclic system with four nitrogen atoms. Tetrazines react extremely fast with terminal alkenes and trans-cyclooctenes in Inverse electron demand Diels-Alder ligation (IEDDA). IEDDA is the fastest cycloaddition reaction among click reactions known. It possesses exceptional selectivity and kinetics. Tetrazines also react with some strained cycloalkynes. IEDDA ligation is a fast and easy method to perform labeling or bioconjugation.
