Azide-PEG3-Carboxylic acid is a bifunctional linker with terminal carboxyl and azido groups.
This molecule is hydrophilic and suitable for water-soluble conjugates synthesis.
The azide group can enter into [3+2]-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with biomolecules containing an alkyne moiety (Click Chemistry reactions), and the carboxyl group can be activated and react with various amines, including peptides and proteins.
The repertoire of the synthesized bioconjugates can be very broad; for example, different antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) can be generated using this approach. Also, the addition of a PEG linker to a molecule can increase the stability and solubility in water, as well as reduce its immunogenicity.
