Deoxycorticosterone-d8 is the deuterium-labeled deoxycorticosterone and is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of deoxycorticosterone by LC-MS.
Deoxycorticosterone (DOC) is defined as a precursor for corticosterone and consequently of aldosterone, leading to increased levels of these adrenal steroids upon DOC administration. Deoxycorticosterone is an important metabolite of progesterone that increases tenfold during pregnancy. DOC is a mineralocorticoid receptor agonist. Excessive DOC can lead to a mineralocorticoid excess state and hypertension. DOC excess can arise from adrenal tumors or congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
