BDP TMR is a borondipyrromethene fluorophore tuned to match tetramethylrhodamine (TAMRA) excitation and emission. Unlike TAMRA, this fluorescent dye has high quantum yield approaching unity. BDP TMR has relatively long excited state lifetime, and can be used for fluorescence polarization assays.
Despite this dye is hydrophobic, it can be successfully used to label biomolecules in aqueous environment, and the conjugates are water soluble.
